Adaptive Weapons are already in the game. They gain XP with every hit and get stronger as you use them, up to Level 5000.
How they work
- Fight with an Adaptive Weapon to give it XP and levels.
- As it levels, it can drop Adaptive Fragments straight into your inventory.
- Higher weapon levels can drop higher-tier Fragments.
- You can give or trade those materials to a Weaponsmith.
- Weaponsmith recipes have an extra slot for Adaptive materials. Using them can greatly increase the crafted weapon's damage and secondary stats.
- At Level 5000, you receive an Adaptive Core, which is needed for the highest-tier crafts.
There are four Fragment tiers. Even two drops from the same tier can have different multipliers. Better materials come from higher weapon levels, so repeatedly starting fresh low-level weapons won't give you the best drops. A high-level weapon can keep producing materials for future crafts, alts or trading.
Fragments and Cores
Current multiplier caps
| Material | Maximum |
|---|---|
| Fragment I | ×10 |
| Fragment II | ×25 |
| Fragment III | ×50 |
| Fragment IV | ×100 |
| Adaptive Core | ×200 |
| Fragment IV + Core | up to ×299 |
These are the starting caps for alpha. Each Fragment or Core can roll a different multiplier within its cap. Future rolls may change as the system gets tuned.
Making an Adaptive Weapon
To make an Adaptive Weapon, you need at least Novice Weaponsmith and an Adaptive Calibrator from the Adaptive Blacksmith in Mos Eisley. It works like a PUP: apply it to a weapon you crafted to make that weapon Adaptive. You can keep it or trade it to another player.
Jedi have a separate system for crafting their own Adaptive Lightsabers.
You can try your weapon against harder enemies in Prestige Missions. Your character's own stats grow separately through Insight / Prestige.
If there are no Weaponsmiths around
An Adaptive Weapon is meant to be strong enough on its own at Level 5000. You can keep using it without having a Weaponsmith craft an upgrade. The extra crafting is optional, for players who want to take their weapon damage further.
